Lake Jennings Camping Trip Highlights:
Four scouts attended this campout: Nathan, Ben, Kyle and Jeremy. We also had five adults and three siblings, a great turn out for our little troop.
Lake Jennings is located in Lakeside, CA, about a 2 hour drive from Long Beach, on the way to San Diego. The campground overlooks the small fresh water lake that is primarily used for fishing. Fishing can be done along the shore, the dock or on a motor boat.
Our troop arrived Friday night and quickly set up camp. Ben and Nate opted for their usual sleeping outside on cots while the rest of us chose tents.
Saturday was spent on the lake fishing and although we didn't catch anything, the scouts and sibs had fun just motor boating around the lake. (Cost for a full day boat rental was only $ 40.00, very reasonable)
Saturday night, Kyle's parents showed the scouts how to cook carne asada steak over an open flame campfire. We all stuffed ourselves! It was delicious. Thanks Monica and Eddie! Boys still managed to have room for s'mores. We had a terrific campfire evening!
Sunday we woke up to a light, but steady drizzle that made breaking camp a bit of a drag, but we survived.
